It is this time of the year in which the inevitable change is most apparent. Not New Years — it can look the same if you want it too (boozy or not). I mean your holiday tradition, whatever it is, has to change, inexorably. You grow up, leave home, discover new friends, live in new places, make new family, new children possibly and endure the loss of people you love, through old age or accident or disease. This change continues and multiplies and our happiness depends on celebrating the old and accepting, even welcoming the new, with grace.
